So in my uh...(counts on fingers) 15 years of surfing I have had only 2 photos taken of me doing what I love. Both of which were low fi and super blurry (in a bad way, not in a cool artsy way).

So upon moving to Bondi I was hassled by a friend of mine to get shot by Aquabumps (an awesome gallery and daily e-mail) but despite my morning ritual surf no joy. That is until the guys at Almond shaped me the MOST amazing board I've ever ridden.

Since then the shots, and the board have been flowing.

A couple of weeks back I had the fortunate pleasure of meeting up with Mr Simon Perini. He did the gratious thing by turning me on to a sweet little pointbreak and gave me a micro tour of the pretty town he calls home.

He gave me a heads up on a show he's doing with some buds of his and now its all set in place you should ink the date into your diary with blood (or biro, the choice is yours)

Even if you cant make it you should check the blog for the show (even shows have blogs now!). A LOT of talent between them.

The above photo is of some Almond boards headed to the all new 6Oz which I half inched from Simon Perinis blog who knicked them from Almond who I'm pretty sure didn't pinch them from Photographer Cam Oden who made them using hes own eyes, fingers and the right amount of captured light.

My local DVD store does 5 for $5 which is awesome as Australian Tv is terrible.

Needless to say I've watched a lot of films.

I wasn't expecting anything with The Brothers Bloom but what I got was a stunner.

If you like your films quirky, with good dialogue and a plot that keeps you guessing then I'd highly recommend it.

I've been hanging out with a new girl lately and she's a lot of fun.
At just over five foot she's quite a lot shorter than most of the ladies I normally hang around with, a bit different with an unusual beauty and is more than a little quirky.

After being introduced to her by Ado at Rake we took a little bus ride down to Bondi beach for our first date. We didn't speak the whole journey and as it was nearly dark by the time we got there we went for a quick swim and tried to get to know each other a little better.
We left early with me feeling a little unsure but interested enough to get to know her more.

The next few dates were pretty strained too, every time I thought things were going well and we were having fun, I'd make a silly mistake, she'd take it really badly and the date would go downhill from there.

There must of been something in the back of my mind telling me she was worth the effort so I borrowed the car from work and took her for a beautiful drive up the coast. We ended up at a beautiful beach where the waves were head high and clean and had a great day of surfing and hanging out on the beach together.

Since then each date has gone from strength to strength and now I know any time we go out we're going to have a hell of a lot of fun. Every now and then I try and push things and she'll put me in my place but overall I couldn't be happier.

I haven't bought a surf magazine for the longest time, There really seems no point to me anymore. Seeing as I'm not really bothered in who beat who in what tittle anymore the world of surf blogs keeps me plenty entertained with beautiful photos, new board design, artistic goings on and whatever else may swing my mood that particular day.

Free to you and me though are a couple of online surf mags which unlike there printed brethren (Surfers Journal excluded) provide some great articles written with intelligence and a bit more individual insight into the surfing world of others. You you do a lot worse than adding them to a nice cup of coffee in the morning.Drift Magazine is full of beautiful images and words. With submissions from a host of worthwhile individuals it covers a wide range. To get the best out of it make sure you read both the US version and the European version as the articles are totally different.

Liquid Salt is pretty new but is already becoming a Favorite read. The format is your simple question and answer interview but they make a point of interviewing some less well known individuals whose answers are just as enlightening.

Finaly had a chance to sit down for a bit and watch a bunch of Korduroy TV and I got to say I was pretty impressed. A nice mix of grounded videos to get you exited about surfing and making stuff which are two of my favorite things to do to pass the time. The ethos leans towards the thinking of 'it doesn't have to be pretty or perfect, it just has to be fun' which in its own way is just as desirable.

Highlights for me was seeing mad genius Derek Hynd fix a ding with pine needles and hearing the exitement in the voiceover on the first riding of the Sea Serpent.

I'm really proud and very exited to be a part of The British Surfing Museums 'An art History of British Surfing' exhibition showing in Thurso, Scotland.

'Full of beautiful nuggets of how the sport of kings has been represented in graphic form, the show has been thoughtfully created by English surfer Pete Robinson. The show is a small but delectable edit of a huge collection of surf memorabilia that Pete hopes to find a permanent home for in Devon this summer.'

Went to check out Thomas Campbell's 'The Present' which wasn't really the same experience as those checking it out in the US but good fun no less.
Thomas and the stars of the film weren't there and neither was the Mattson 2 or Ray Barbee instead the much lower key event had a suitably low key pre-movie in the form of the awesomely British Life Of Ply.
Micks trailer for Musica surfica also showed and having seen it at home was blown away by how good it looked on the big screen.
As far as 'The Present' it's pretty good as far as surf films go but I was left a little disappointed in the overall feel of the film considering it came from the hands of the super talented and highly prolific Mr Campbell. It's worth a watch but I reckon Sprout will still stay my fav.
