The Present

Went to check out Thomas Campbell's 'The Present' which wasn't really the same experience as those checking it out in the US but good fun no less.
Thomas and the stars of the film weren't there and neither was the Mattson 2 or Ray Barbee instead the much lower key event had a suitably low key pre-movie in the form of the awesomely British Life Of Ply.
Micks trailer for Musica surfica also showed and having seen it at home was blown away by how good it looked on the big screen.
As far as 'The Present' it's pretty good as far as surf films go but I was left a little disappointed in the overall feel of the film considering it came from the hands of the super talented and highly prolific Mr Campbell. It's worth a watch but I reckon Sprout will still stay my fav.

I'm glad you got to see it on the big screen even though T. Moe and the Mattsons weren't there. I like Somewhere At Sea and the Beastly piece at Corduroy. Always great work, K!!

At least you didn't cream your shorts over Thomas Campbell like your bro at Shakas and Single fins.

I've heard the film aint all that. Dont believe the hype!

Lou,

The one thing that really stood out for me was how much work and Thomas had put into the actual cinimatography, camerawork and colours of the shots rather than his previous asthetic of doodling over the film and layered type. With this in mind and knowing my bro at shaka and singlefin's love of photography I'm not suprised he was loving it.
Check the film for yourself. you never know, you may even cream your own shorts.

I just watched it at our local beach cinema in Aus & really enjoyed the humour & the inclusive attitude of "ride anything & everything"

It's entertainment after all, not the United Nations peace treaty........maybe it helped that there was a bar & music, but we all came out smilin'
